National Popcorn Day!
January 19th is an all around fabulous day. It is both my brother’s birthday AND National Popcorn day. How much better can it get?
Here’s how to make the best bowl of popcorn you’ll ever have:
1: Put a tablespoon of coconut oil in a sauce pan along with 3 popcorn kernels. Set the burner to high and let the pot heat up. When the kernels pop you know it’s hot enough.
2: Remove the 3 popped kernels and add a hand full or two of popcorn (precise measurements only here) and cover the sauce pan.
3: Hold the pan with two pot holders and hold it just above the burner as you shake it.
Alternate shaking for a few seconds and setting it on the burner for a few seconds till the kernels stop popping.
4: Pour into a bowl, drizzle with melted butter, shake with salt, and toss it up.
Extra Popping Tips:
- Cooking with coconut oil keeps the popcorn from turning brown or burning as it does with butter. It’s also Healthier.
- Use a clear glass lid so you can see what’s happening in the sauce pan.
- Instead of salt and butter try a little drizzle of honey and powdered ginger. So good!
- Don’t forget to celebrate National Popcorn Day
